A lot of things have been happening lately and it seems that it isn’t going to stop! First of all the Parkes show was cancelled but wasn’t quite as disappointing as I thought. In the end they decided to go ahead with the judging of the craft section and I won a first and a
second for my bead work. I was quite chuffed. I won a first for my Cellini spiral necklace and second for my Kokopelli beaded needle case. Surprisingly I didn’t get anything for my Wendy Cab necklace which was my main entry. I have now entered the Wendy necklace into the Bead Extravaganza competition at the Sydney Bead and Gem show and it has been selected as a finalist. That’s another thing I’m quite pleased with!
The weekend before last was the Precious Metal Clay and Resin workshop that I organised here in Parkes. Wendy Hearn (Guru Creations) and Donna Fox (Sympatica) came to Parkes to present the workshop (although I suspect the real reason was to escape the Apec Conference in Sydney). We had the best weekend! It was great playing with the pmc and learning about Resin. I love the versatility of the resin, it is so much fun to work with. We had eight people come to the workshop and I think they all went home pleased with what they had made. Below are a few photos from the workshop.

Our mess!
Wendy and her partner Adam stayed with us for the weekend and Donna stayed Saturday night which was lovely, we had a really enjoyable evening.
Today I sent off my “Great Southern Land”challenge/swap beaded beads to my swap partner. I hope she likes them. I had such fun making them and was quite pleased with how they turned out. I used the Great Barrier reef as my inspiration and I think you can see that in the beads. It’s a bit naughty but I will post a picture here and hope that my swap partner doesn’t see it!

I have been working for the last week getting ready for an Art Show exhibition that I mentioned previously which is this coming weekend. I sent off a list of exhibits to the organisers but over the weekend made three necklaces that I am really pleased with (haven’t taken photos yet). So I will have to have them listed as well. As far as I know there is only one other person exhibiting jewellery and as it turns out she is one of my students!
And finally I have two events coming up during October where I will be displaying my jewellery, both for cancer fund raising. With these and the Christmas trade coming up I can see I will be quite busy!
Cheers
Sharyn
