With winter descending in a rush I have been spending my evenings on the couch, by the fire. So that of course means that jewellery making has been on a go slow regime! On the house front the painting is finished, the tiling is done and we are working on laying the floor, after that all that’s left is the trims (skirting and architraves) and the lighting. It will be so good to get the furniture back in and arranged and to have some order in our lives after months of chaos! Of course that is just the inside, we still have major work to do to finish the outside (paving, pergola, garden etc)!!
My workshop at the local church ladies day on the 2nd of June was a great success. I had 32 ladies who all seemed to enjoy learning to make a simple strung bracelet using crystals and pearls. I also had a display of my jewellery and sold quite a few pieces. It was full on teaching 32 people at once and I did many many laps of the room to get around everyone! However, despite that it was a very successful and lovely day.
Quite surprising, a few days later I had another call asking for a similar thing. This group are organising a day for drought affected women at Bogan Gate which will include a range of activites. They plan to break everyone into groups of 8 and have a few activities that they can ‘rotate’ through. I suspect that although I will be teaching smaller groups at a time it will still be challenging in other ways (like keeping everyone on track and finishing in the time allocated). I plan to take a helper with me this time just in case! Unfortunately because this is meant to be a relaxing day for the ladies and one that is cost free I am unable to take a display of jewellery for sale.
On the beading side, I have recently completed another quest for the beading forum. I left it till rather late and inspiration wasn’t forthcoming so I kept my design very simple.

I’m also working on a piece for the seed bead challenge which is to create a bead bezel on a ‘found’ object. I found my object sitting on the bench in the kitchen and was so happy with how it turned out I have continued on and beaded six more! As soon as I have it all finished I will show you, but for now it must remain a secret!!
Well that’s all for now.
Cheers
Sharyn
